In response to previous requests from Sanibel residents to be alerted when vegetation trimming may affect vehicular traffic on island, today Lee County Electric Cooperative (LCEC) has advised the City of Sanibel of the specific locations for vegetation and maintenance trimming on Sanibel during the week of February 8 – February 12, 2021.

Asplundh will be working between the hours of 7:00am to 5:30pm at the following locations:

  • Central Periwinkle, around the business district
  • Along Sanibel Captiva Road, northwest of the Sanibel School
  • Along Rabbit Road
  • Along West Gulf Drive, west of Rabbit Road
Motorists are advised to exercise caution and to be aware of all signs and traffic control at these locations.

In response to the numerous outages over the past year, LCEC, the electric service provider for the Island, has undertaken aggressive additional vegetation trimming to improve the reliability of the electric system. Per LCEC, the project is scheduled to be completed by March 31, 2021. For more information regarding the trimming maintenance project, please contact LCEC at 239-656-2300.
