The next meeting of the Captiva Community Panel is set for Tuesday, Jan. 8, beginning at 9 a.m. in the Cone Rooms on Chadwicks Square at South Seas Island Resort. This meeting is open to all interested islanders and the public.

Among the agenda items will be a workshop on the community resources issues in the Captiva Code; an update on the Wastewater Committee and the Captiva drive walkway; election of panel officers; plus committee reports and updates from other island organizations.

Also, save the date for the upcoming wastewater alternatives special presentation. A special community forum will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 23, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Captiva Civic Center, 11550 Chapin Lane. Among the presenters will be Doug Eckmann of TKW Consulting Engineers and Jay Brown, chair of the panel’s Wastewater Committee.

A review of the Captiva Island Wastewater Alternatives Study prepared by TKW will be followed by discussion of Wastewater Committee efforts to date and additional research planned, next steps and a Q&A session. CEPD meets Jan. 7
The new year brings a new meeting day for the Captiva Erosion Prevention District, whose board meetings will now be held on the second Monday of the month. That means the January meeting will be Monday, Jan. 7, beginning at 1 p.m. in the Cone Rooms at South Seas Island Resort beginning at 1 p.m. Information is online at or call 472-2472.
